Samsung TV IR interference

After suffering through 4 months of nonworking remote control, I finally google my way up to a CNET audio & video discussion which enlightens me on the problem.

Just so you know, it seems to be a more and more known fact that LCD screens or flat panels (can) emit IR noice and interfere with other devices to the point of them not working (while the TV is on).
Emails and calls to the respective support departments (in my case, Samsung, Grundig, and RiksTV) did not reveal anything.
The discussion seems to indicate that frequently, the TVs energy saving functions are the culprit(s) since they use techniques which transmit IR signal/noice.

I found this out the hard way too Ideo; unfortunately because I had the same problem. In fact, my neighbor had the same problem for the same reason. His remote stopped working, and started working at the same time each day because something in the neighborhood was causing it. I also went on a forum and found out that an IR repeater fixes the problem by “boosting” the IR signal. Interestingly though, (and why I’m posting here because I’m so excited) I had the new Hopper whole-home HD DVR installed yesterday by my employer, DISH. The installers didn’t know what my IR repeater was, and consequently it didn’t get connected (easy enough to hook up). Well, I was pleased to find out while looking at the online manual, the Hopper and Joey client boxes use UHF when I realized all the remotes were working perfectly. I also found out there is a remote finder button, and I can use any remote in any room. That is totally fantastic! I’m so excited that I’m telling the whole world about it.
