After suffering through 4 months of nonworking remote control, I finally google my way up to a CNET audio & video discussion which enlightens me on the problem.
Just so you know, it seems to be a more and more known fact that LCD screens or flat panels (can) emit IR noice and interfere with other devices to the point of them not working (while the TV is on).
Emails and calls to the respective support departments (in my case, Samsung, Grundig, and RiksTV) did not reveal anything.
The discussion seems to indicate that frequently, the TVs energy saving functions are the culprit(s) since they use techniques which transmit IR signal/noice.
